priveledges an extra layer of protection
by aintenoughwiskey ini have noticed when an elder or ms gets in serious trouble, many times it's simply a demotion.
local example.
well liked ms son of a prominent elder/pioneer gets caught doing the dance with no pants with his fiancee.

Summer Convention at Twickenham now gone, UK
by jookbeard ini believe this is the first year that the uk wont have a summer dc at this historical old rugby stadium (which is now one of the finest arenas in the uk) the costs to rent it must be astronomical these days, and it appears they are having multiple dates at the excel arena in london plus milton keynes is being used , many memories for me from a baby onwards making the yearly trip there, the dusty old stadium, the long walks to the car parks, working on the field security, getting burnt to a crisp or being poured on, binoculars !
food tickets, meeting at the lion gates checking the talent, and on the final day drinking the local pub dry the barny arms, end of an era!

i went to a couple of twickers in the early 60's----first with my dear old mum and we stayed in lodgings--a real dump that was. but she left me on wimbledon railway station to do trainspotting so i was a happy kid. (how blatantly stupid now i look back ) i suppose she thought the angels would look after me.
the second i went camping in the tent city on site--with all my teenage mates. the highlight of it was getting to meet liquorice !

i delete my browsing history but if she should discover this site and my identity here, she will gladly hand me over to the hangman, something i have managed to avoid for quite some time now,.

I had breakfast with 50+ JWs on Sunday
by zimunzucz inwe pulled into a hotel parking lot saturday around 6pm on the return leg of a wonderful family vacation to new england - an then fate stepped in---a man in a suit got out of a car with the rest of a picture perfect family.
i immediately noticed all the name tags--- and my blood pressure spiked 50pts- damn!!
i was booked in a 4 story hotel full of jws-- the only time they took off the name tags was in the swimming pool- they were so proud of themselves.. at 6:30 am the hot water went cold in the wife's shower- what do you expect on the 4th floor when a herd of jws is trying to get ready at the same time?

What was your eye opening moment?
by WasOnceBlind inif you had to pinpoint the time or experience that finally made you open your eyes, what would it be?.
i think for me it was the time i saw my dad shun his brother who he had not seen in decades just because he was a da'ed jw.
i thought to my self "no way jesus would do that.

it was this blood transfusion thing. i was 23 and about to be a dad for the first time. i knew i would never refuse a t/f for me--my wife--or our kid.
that led me to re-consider all my beliefs---and god was struck off the list. i never looked back--so leaving the watchtower was easy. its only since joining sites leke this i realise how completely crazy the whole nonsense really is.
